I am a 15 year
adeno-carcinoma (cervical cancer) survivor. I was diagnosed with cancer, during
what was supposed to be the happiest time of my life--my first pregnancy. I was
19 weeks pregnant when the confirmed diagnosis was handed down to me. I was
told to expect that my pregnancy would be terminated immediately and that I
would not be able to have any other children. The disease tried to take away my
most precious gift in this world--my now 15-year-old son. I was 26 yrs old and
completely bewildered by everything happening to me at that moment.
I was blessed to be transferred to Montreal to be taken care of by the absolute
crème de la crème. My son was finally born 13 weeks later and I had my
life-saving operation.
Now I ask you to support me on the next phase of my journey—giving back! I walk
for sisters, nieces, mothers, daughters, aunts and cousins and best friends and
all who are--or could be--affected by cancer. Join me and one day we can talk about
cancer as a past-tense disease.
